Job Overview
The Head Design Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible for leading the in-house engineering team, driving new product development (NPD), ensuring compliance with international standards, and delivering innovative mechanical design solutions.

Job Responsibilities
- Engineering & Design
- Lead and mentor the in-house design & engineering team.
- Develop mechanical design concepts and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) specifications for PPE products.
- Collaborate with toolmakers and production teams for prototype and production readiness.
- Ensure ergonomics, safety, and durability in product designs.
- New Product Development (NPD)
- Identify market needs and convert them into product opportunities.
- Create and execute the NPD roadmap aligned with company goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for cost-effective and timely product launches.
- Material Expertise
- Select appropriate materials such as plastics, metals, and textiles for PPE product components.
- Work with vendors and QA teams for material evaluation and compliance.
- Compliance & Certifications
- Ensure all designs meet national and international PPE standards (IS, EN, ANSI).
- Coordinate with third-party labs for testing and certifications.
- Innovation & Patents
- Drive innovation in product usability, comfort, and safety.
- Identify opportunities for intellectual property rights (IPR) and patents.
Eligibility Criteria
- A Diploma/Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in product, furniture, or lighting design (freshers may also apply).
- A strong portfolio of product concepts, CAD drawings, and visuals.
- Understanding of materials, proportions, finishes, and design-to-manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of luxury décor aesthetics will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Design Engineer (PPE or related industries preferred).
- Strong expertise in mechanical product design and manufacturing processes.
- Proven leadership skills to mentor and manage a design team.
- Knowledge of compliance standards and certification processes.
